Tradition holds that Putham Senthanar was the son of a Tamil teacher from Madurai. Beyond his authorship of Iniyavai Narpathu within the Pathinenkilkanakku collection, little else of his life is recorded.
About this work
Iniyavai Narpathu ("the forty sweet things") is one of the Pathinenkilkanakku, the eighteen post-Sangam didactic works. Each of its 40 verses lists four things in life that are sweet or desirable, ranging across personal virtue, family life, learning, and good governance.
